Kerry's only Medically Run Dermatology, Cosmetic and Laser Clinic: Kerry Skin Clinic

Dr David Buckley is the founding member and medical director of the Kerry Skin Clinic in Tralee. The Kerry Skin Clinic was previously known as the “Solas Dermatology and Laser Clinic” until we rebranded in 2019. Dr Buckley is on the specialist register of the Irish Medical Council (MCN: 03164) and specializes in community based  dermatology, skin surgery and aesthetic medicine. He has been providing a community-based dermatology service in The Ashe Street Clinic Tralee since 1989.

Kerry Skin Clinic is a state-of-the-art facility, providing the most advanced care in medical, surgical, laser and cosmetic dermatology. Dr Buckley and his team provide the latest diagnostic and therapeutic equipment, including computer-aided diagnosis and lasers that deliver safe, fast and efficient care to their patients with all skin, hair and nail problems. They provide all the latest innovations to enhance blemished, damaged or ageing skin to restore a natural youthful appearance. Treatment techniques used include: Pulse Dye Lasers, Intense Pulse Light (IPL), Medical Microdermabrasion, Cryosurgery, Radiosurgery, Microneedling, Botox, Fillers and Chemical Peels.

Kerry Skin Clinic offers the most advanced treatments for many cosmetic problems, including wrinkles and fine lines, excessive hair growth on the face or body, red veins on the face or legs, acne, rosacea, brown spots, scars, keloids and excessive sweating.

Dr Buckley continues to offer a wide range of medical dermatological services, including the treatment of acne, eczema, psoriasis and leg ulcers. He prescribes Roaccutane under careful medical supervision for patients with severe acne not responding to standard therapies. He also treats a wide range of scalp, hair and nail problems. In addition, he runs a special Psoriasis Clinic and performs a wide range of allergy tests.

Kerry Skin Clinic also provides surgical dermatology  for the removal of cysts, ingrown toenails  and benign skin tumours. Dr Buckley is internationally recognised for his expertise in cryosurgery and offers the latest techniques for treating warts, verrucae, keloids, selected skin cancers and many other benign and malignant skin tumours using cryosurgery. This technique uses extremely cold liquids or gasses to selectively destroy unwanted skin tumours such as warts, keloids and some skin cancers with a very high cure rate and excellent cosmetic results in most cases.

Dr Buckley has a special interest in skin cancer and in addition to surgical excision using radiosurgery and cryosurgery, he now offers the latest techniques for treating skin cancer, including topical immune response modifiers, such as imiquimod (Aldara). Dr Buckley was one of the first doctors to introduce photodynamic therapy (PDT) for skin cancer in Ireland.
Kerry Skin Clinic can assess suspicious moles with skin microscopy (dermatoscopy) and digital photography (mole mapping). Dr Buckley can arrange to have suspicious moles removed and assessed in the lab if required.

If you have a medical or surgical dermatological problem, please phone or email to arrange an appointment with Dr Buckley. If you have cosmetic concerns (e.g. excess hair growth, wrinkles, frown lines, broken veins on the face, excess pigment problems of the skin, etc.) you can get a free initial consultation with our aesthetician, Caroline O'Connor, where the various treatment options can be explored and explained.
