Fillers
What are Fillers?
Fillers (also know as dermal fillers) are products that are injected under the skin to add volume to different areas of the face such as over the cheekbones, around the mouth, around the eyes or to plump up the lips. The results are subtle and long lasting. Dr Buckley uses the Juvéderm© range of hyaluronic acid fillers which is the best-selling hyaluronic acid filler in the United States. Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a naturally occurring substance that delivers nutrients to the skin. Fillers help the skin retain moisture to soften lines and add volume. All our fillers contain local anaesthetic to help minimise discomfort during treatment. Additional anaesthetic options are available for those who are nervous about needles. The Juvéderm© range of fillers lasts on average for one to two years depending on the area injected. Unlike Botox©, fillers will help with static wrinkles that are present when you are not forming facial expressions (i.e. when your face is at rest). The Juvéderm© range of fillers is a long-lasting solution to your face's ageing process. It will help restore some of the volume that you lose on your face as you age. Fillers can also be used to create a ''lifting'' effect, especially when injected around the cheekbones, in the cheek area just in front of the ears and around the mouth. Fillers are excellent for smoothing out lines on your upper lip which are common in smokers and ex-smokers. Dr Buckley, who is Allergan trained, administers fillers by needles or cannulas (a soft plastic needle) to enhance safety and comfort. Fillers usually cause some redness and puffiness in the affected area for a few days after the injection. However, when this settles down the volumising and lifting effects of the fillers should be most apparent after one or two weeks.
