Patient After Care Instructions – Vascular Treatment

You will be leaving the clinic today will possible bruising and possible mild swelling. This bruising may appear to darken in the next 24 hours but should begin to reduce in appearance after 48 hours. The bruising may take up to 10 – 14 days to disappear completely. Makeup can be used immediately to cover these marks.

We would advise that you avoid rubbing or scratching the treated area as this may lead to the formation of micro-crusting. If this does occur, you should not interfere with this crusting, as this will increase the risk of introducing infection. Antiseptic cream such as Fucidin can be applied to the micro-crusting if necessary and make-up should be avoided on crusting areas. If you have any concerns, do not hesitate to contact us for further advice. If you feel any discomfort in the hours after your treatment, this can be relieved with icepacks applied to the area and paracetemol tablets.

You should avoid the use of harsh cleansing products on the treatment area for the next 48 hours and refrain from swimming or using a Jacuzzi whilst discoloration is present. Sun exposure after an Nlite-V vascular treatment is not advised without the use of a sunscreen containing an SPF 30 active against UVA and UVB and a broad sun hat. Since UVL is the most common cause of broken veins on the face, you should protect your skin from the sun, bright daylight and sunbeds for the rest of your life.
